Principal's Message

Nord Families,

From Camp Fitch to our Comet Impact Raffle winners, the past two weeks have been filled with wonderful memories at Walter G. Nord School. We truly appreciate your continued support as we head into the fall season.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are quickly approaching on Wednesday, October 8th and Monday, November 3rd. Your child’s homeroom teacher will be in contact with you to schedule a time to meet. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or the Nord Main Office at 440-988-4441. We strongly encourage all parents to attend.

Looking ahead to October, we have many exciting events at Nord, including our Fifth Grade 50 States Parade next Friday, the PTO Walk-a-Thon, and the conclusion of our first grading period. We hope you enjoy this edition of Nord News, which highlights these upcoming events and more!

Have a great weekend,

Nick Toney

School Resource Officer Lamb

Lamb

Hi Nord Families! My name is Officer Ryan Lamb, and I am your School Resource Officer for the 2025-2026 school year.  I have been with the Amherst Schools for five years now and am excited for another great school year!  I am an Amherst graduate and an Amherst resident.  My wife and I recently welcomed our beautiful baby girl into the world, and I am already getting her ready to be a Comet like all of you!

My goal for this school year is always the same, to keep you and all of Amherst students safe.  Another goal this year is to be a bridge between our school and the community. I want to create positive connections with you and show that police officers are here to support you.

If you would like to contact me, you can reach me at the Amherst Police Department, 440-988-2625.  Or by email, rlamb@amherstpolice.net ; ryan_lamb@amherstk12.org

Responsibilities of a School Resource Officer:

  • Keep the school safe by being present and prepared.

  • Build positive relationships with students and staff.

  • Be a resource for safety questions or concerns.

  • Educate students on topics like safety, laws, and good decision-making.

  • Work with school staff to solve problems.

  • Connect the school with the community and local law enforcement.

  • Respond quickly to emergencies, safety concerns, or suspicious activity.

  • Support school drills (fire, lockdown, severe weather) and help staff prepare for real emergencies.
