Celebrating Our November Staff Members of the Month |
As we approach Thanksgiving break, we are reminded of just how much we have to be thankful for, especially the incredible faculty and staff who teach, care for, and inspire our Comets every day. This month, we are proud to highlight several team members who exemplify dedication, compassion, and excellence in their roles.
Our Staff Members of the Month include:
|
- Becky McArthur, Dean of Students at Nord
- Michelle Sturgeon, Nancy Strauser, and Eileen Campo, Paraprofessionals at Amherst Junior High
- Laureen Hughett, Head Cook at Nord
- Kathy Smith and the Steele High School team: Lisa Donofrio, Lindsay Sklarek, Shannon Smith, Lisa Lewandowski, Becky Mieden, Nicole Smolik, and Diane Hamilton (not pictured)
|
Each of these outstanding individuals consistently goes above and beyond to support students, colleagues, and families across the district. Their commitment to excellence makes a meaningful difference in our schools, and we are truly grateful to have them as part of the Comet family. |

NNDCC Completes First Annual Military Inspection (AMI) |
On Tuesday, November 18, the Marion L. Steele High School Navy National Defense Cadet Corps (NNDCC) completed its first Annual Military Inspection—a major milestone for the new unit. NJROTC Area Managers led the evaluation, with guest inspectors Lieutenant Commander Derek Diaz and Lieutenant Colonel Lee Clare (Steele Class of 1991).
Cadets participated in a Personnel Inspection, a formal ceremony recognizing the top ten scorers, remarks from Lt. Col. Clare, and an impressive Drill Team performance, followed by a traditional Pass In Review.
Congratulations to all cadets on a strong first AMI—your hard work and discipline truly shined!
