This week, our district proudly honored all who have served and continue to serve our country. Each of our schools went above and beyond to celebrate Veterans Day!
At AJH, students shared poems, expressed gratitude, and recognized each branch of the Armed Services during a heartfelt assembly featuring a Veteran Panel.
Powers Elementary students lined the hallways for a special Veterans Day parade, cheering and sharing handmade flags, signs, and crafts with the veterans they invited.
Walter G. Nord School hosted Lunch with a Veteran, giving students a memorable chance to share a meal, stories, and laughter with the veterans in their lives.
A big shout-out to our Navy National Defence Cadets, who supported many of these events and took part in the community’s Veterans Day Tribute Ceremony in Downtown Amherst.
From all of us at Amherst Schools, thank you for your service. Your courage, sacrifice, and dedication protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.

Welcoming Our Future Comets! |
I recently had the honor of meeting future Comet Joshua to deliver some special gifts! Joshua received a cuddly Comet bear and a special book — and he’s now signed up for the Lorain County Imagination Library, where he’ll receive a new book each month until he turns five!
I believe that this is a wonderful way to inspire a love of reading in our youngest future Comets!
If you know of any newborn future Comets in Amherst who would enjoy a visit from Mr. Molnar, reach out to him or the Amherst Board of Education to set one up!
