We want to sincerely thank our parents, staff, law enforcement, and community members for their support, patience, and cooperation during yesterday’s bomb threat situation at Marion L. Steele High School and Walter G. Nord School.

We are grateful for the swift response from all safety personnel and school staff, and we are especially thankful that all students and staff remained safe throughout the day. Situations like this require coordinated effort, and our community once again showed strength, calm, and trust in the process.

We understand events like this can be unsettling, and we appreciate your understanding as we followed established safety protocols. We are glad to report that the situation was fully addressed, and normal operations were able to continue.

We are truly blessed by the continued support of our families and community partners. Thank you for standing with us and for everything you do to support our schools.

Navy National Defense Cadet Corps Hosts Annual Change of Command Ceremony

Our Navy National Defense Cadet Corps (NNDCC) recently held its annual Awards Ceremony, highlighting the formal Change of Command and recognizing the achievements of our outstanding cadets.

Thank you to VFW Post 1662, the Nathan Perry Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Military Order of the World Wars for their generous support and for the awards they presented to our deserving cadets.

A key moment of the ceremony was the Change of Command—a formal military tradition in which leadership is officially transferred from one commanding officer to another. We extend our sincere thanks to our outgoing Commanding Officer, Cadet Lieutenant Commander (C/LCDR) Hayden Baker, for her leadership and service to the program. Congratulations to our new Commanding Officer, Cadet Lieutenant Commander (C/LCDR) Sophia Vicens. We look forward to all you will accomplish in this role!

A special tribute was also given to our nine graduating seniors: Hayden Baker, Abbey Barry, Paul Cherney, Mia DelMonico, Tyler Denn, William Fought, Eva Hunter, Cristian Nieves, and Isabel Vansant. Each was honored with the VFW JROTC Award in recognition of their foundational contributions to the establishment of this program.

We are proud of all our cadets and wish our seniors the very best in their future endeavors!
