Powers Students Have Some Olympic Fun with Curling in Physical Education |
Students in Mrs. Kne’s third grade class recently “went for the gold” while learning about the Olympic sport of curling in Physical Education class with Coach Matt Johnson.
After watching a short tutorial and clips of Olympic teams in action, students explored the strategy and teamwork behind the sport. Since there’s no ice in the gym, Coach Johnson got creative and recreated the experience by designing a target similar to the one used in competition. Students worked in pairs, using scooters to slide toward the target and score points, or knock out the other team’s shots, just like in real curling.
The hands-on activity gave students a fun and active way to connect with a global sporting event while building teamwork and problem-solving skills. A big shout out to Coach Johnson for bringing creativity into P.E. and making learning both relevant and exciting! |
