REMINDER: NO SCHOOL FRIDAY & MONDAY

There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, February 13 (Conference Comp Day) and Monday, February 16 (Presidents Day).

Classes will resume on Tuesday, February 17. Enjoy the long weekend!

Students in Mrs. Kne’s third grade class recently “went for the gold” while learning about the Olympic sport of curling in Physical Education class with Coach Matt Johnson.

After watching a short tutorial and clips of Olympic teams in action, students explored the strategy and teamwork behind the sport. Since there’s no ice in the gym, Coach Johnson got creative and recreated the experience by designing a target similar to the one used in competition. Students worked in pairs, using scooters to slide toward the target and score points, or knock out the other team’s shots, just like in real curling.

The hands-on activity gave students a fun and active way to connect with a global sporting event while building teamwork and problem-solving skills. A big shout out to Coach Johnson for bringing creativity into P.E. and making learning both relevant and exciting!

Over the last week and a half, we’ve had the opportunity to recognize and celebrate several of our outstanding senior athletes, including a special evening honoring the seniors behind COMETSLIVE!, whose hard work helps bring the excitement of our athletic events to the entire Amherst community and beyond.

Senior Night celebrations continue tomorrow evening, February 13, at Marion L. Steele High School as we honor our Boys Basketball, Cheer, and Dance seniors!

The Comets take on North Ridgeville, with special recognitions throughout the night:

⭐ Basketball Senior Night – between the JV & Varsity games (around 7 PM)
⭐ Cheer & Dance Seniors – recognized at Varsity halftime

Come out and help us celebrate these incredible seniors and cheer on the Comets!

There are lots of games and matches happening this weekend! Good luck to all of our Comet athletes as they compete - let’s show our support and cheer them on!
