As we wrap up our first full week of school, I am reminded of what “I AM AMHERST” truly means. Our students have jumped into learning, built new friendships, and embraced the challenges that come with a new year. At the same time, our dedicated staff have been working tirelessly to create welcoming classrooms, care for students, and set the tone for a successful year ahead. The energy, pride, and sense of community across our schools this week have been inspiring, and I am excited for all that lies ahead this school year. As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, September 1, in observance of Labor Day—enjoy the long weekend with your families!
In today’s update, we’re sharing some upcoming events for everyone in our Comet Community. Please take a moment to scroll through and save the dates that are important for your family. We hope to see you at these events and look forward to connecting with you throughout the year!
The Amherst Little Comets Running Club is a free and fun opportunity for students to be introduced to the life-long sport of running! Amherst has a proud tradition of success in cross country and track, with numerous conference and state champions—and now our youngest Comets can be part of that legacy.
This club is open to all Amherst students in Kindergarten through 6th grade (including St. Joseph and home-schooled athletes). Runners will enjoy making new friends, staying active, working hard, and—most importantly—having FUN! Click the image below to learn more!
