Amherst Schools Receive Purple Star Recognition |
We are proud to share that the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce has renewed the Purple Star School designation for all four of our schools for the Class of 2026.
This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting military-connected students and families, and meeting the high standards set by Ohio’s Purple Star Advisory Board. We are honored to continue providing the support these students need, especially during times of transition, deployment, and family changes.
The designation is valid through April 2029, with renewal opportunities in fall 2028.
A special shoutout to Technology Innovation Specialist Amanda Sears for her continued work and dedication in supporting this important initiative across the district.
Thank you to our staff, students, and families for helping make this recognition possible, and congratulations to our entire school community!

Chick Hatching Brings Hands-On Learning to Mrs. Pazder’s Class |
Students in Mrs. Beth Pazder’s resource room had an unforgettable, hands-on learning experience this spring thanks to a special partnership with Farmer Eric from Heartland Pastures, a local Amherst farm.
Throughout the month of March, students participated in a full chicken hatching journey and learning how to incubate eggs, monitor their development, and care for newly hatched chicks. Farmer Eric provided all the necessary materials and visited the classroom to guide students through each step, including a special “candling day” where students learned how to check if eggs were developing.
Just before Spring Break, students said goodbye to the chicks as they were returned to Heartland Pastures to continue growing.
This engaging experience gave students a unique opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world agriculture while creating lasting memories along the way.
