Steele Report

August 29, 2025

Dear Steele Families,

Thank you for helping us get off to such a strong start this school year! It has been great to see our hallways filled with energy, school spirit, and students who are eager to reconnect and dive into their classes.

The first few weeks of high school can be busy—adjusting to new schedules, balancing academics and activities, and setting goals for the year ahead. I want to recognize and thank you for the support you’ve given your students and our staff as we establish routines and expectations that will set the tone for a successful year.

Already, I’ve been impressed by the pride our students are showing in their work and the positive way they’re representing Steele both in and out of the classroom. Together, we’re building momentum for a year full of growth, achievement, and opportunity.

We value your partnership and look forward to working together to make this a great year for every student. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Go Comets,

Joe Tellier

Gallery of Success 2025

Attention Seniors! You are invited to celebrate Amherst tradition at the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Gallery of Success Induction Ceremony on Homecoming Friday, September 26th at 8:30 a.m. in the main gym.

Since its beginning in 1986, the Gallery of Success has honored outstanding Amherst graduates whose accomplishments serve as inspiration for the next generation of Comets. Inductees come from all walks of life, but all share one thing in common—they once walked the halls of Amherst Schools.

This fall, four distinguished alumni, chosen with the help of our Student Council, will take their place among this honored group—each representing a unique story of perseverance and accomplishment.

Introducing the 2025 Gallery of Success inductees:

  • David Babich (Class of 2002) – Chief Petty Officer with the U.S. Navy Band, performing at national

    ceremonies and events worldwide.

  • Kyle Gelenius (Class of 2002) – Lorain Police Lieutenant and community leader, dedicated to public safety and youth education.

  • Jake Kozarec (Class of 2002) – Partner at Fortress Talent Management in Los Angeles, representing award-winning composers for major films and TV shows.

  • Leslie (Les) Kreeger (Class of 1960) – Architect and early pioneer in energy conservation, known for innovative designs including Ohio’s first active solar-heated home.

  • Richard Rice (Class of 1960) – Construction industry leader whose work includes Cedar Point

landmarks, housing developments, and educational facilities.

We look forward to welcoming the senior class to attend this wonderful event on Homecoming Friday, September 26th.
